2019-9-5 · An investigation was carried out to determine a possible beneficiation route for Sishen mine iron ore slimes with the aim of achieving concentrate suitable for pelletizing to be used in iron making. Two samples were used in the investigation namely; Direct Process Slimes (DPS) and Magnetic Separation Processed Slimes (MSPS) from Sishen mine.
Sishen Mine is an existing mining operation, operating under an existing mining right (NC 259 MR) and approved Environmental Management Programme (2002, as amended) for the mining and processing of iron ore. The main focus being the beneficiation of A-grade ore (haematite containing >58% iron) by means of Dense Media Separation (DMS).
2014-9-15 · Kumba Iron Ore’s Sishen mine in South Africa produces 41 Mt of iron ore per annum from its beneficiation plants. The orebody consists mainly of laminated and massive haematite ore, of which 34 M/a is crushed to –90 mm before beneficiation by means of a combination of Wemco drums and dense medium cyclones. In addition, 22 Mt/a is
2021-9-23 · The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) is pleased to announce the commencement of a third-party independent assessment of the Sishen iron ore mine against the IRMA Standard for Responsible Mining. The mining complex, operated by Sishen Iron Ore Company (parent company Anglo American) is located near Kathu, in Northern Cape province, South Africa.
Assessment scope: The assessment will include Sishen operations and facilities, including an open pit mine, crusher, beneficiation (gravity separation, cyclone and drum), tailings storage facilities, and waste rock disposal areas.During the assessment the impacts and issues associated with all mining operations and the associated facilities will be reviewed, and each site will be visited.
2020-7-7 · Sishen mine is located 30 km from the town of Kathu in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. It is one of the largest open pit iron ore producing mines in the world. Mining at Sishen is carried out as part of Anglo American's Kumba Iron ore operation. The mine accounts for the majority of Kumba's iron ore production.
Sishen mine has sufficient reserves to sustain a 14-year life of mine. The bulk of our iron ore production comes from Sishen mine, with most of it being exported. We mine by opencast methods and then transport the ore to the beneficiation plant where it is crushed, screened and beneficiated.
